A Day In A Quarantined Life

Image
The enhanced community quarantine imposed by the government is supposed to end by the 12 th of this month. Yet, the number of COVID19 cases continue to escalate. And so, extending it for another two weeks has its advantage and disadvantage. Unfortunately, since the Philippines is not a country like Singapore, most of us see it as a loss on our end because of failing to earn for the family. However, on the bright side, being at home may just be the best way to flatten the curve. It is sad, however, that while information about the benefits of staying at home and keeping a distance from others while in public is a sure way of preventing further spread of the disease, still a lot of people see it from a different light. Instead of reaching out to others and provide help in any form, they continue babbling nonsense online which really doesn’t do any good. On my end, all I want is for this nightmare to end so we can all get back to our normal lives. Indeed, it has taken...

The Unwelcomed Visitor

Image
By the start of 2020, the Philippines have been plagued with various issues. From the eruption of the Taal Volcano, the never-ending talk about the franchise renewal of ABS CBN, and the worst, the COVID 19 threat which has affected thousands of lives . Every end of the year, we have always prayed for a better new year ahead. And while we continue to seek for the best things to come, the things that happen around us is not in our hands. The effect of COVID 19 worldwide has implications that have created a hole in the economy. Having an enemy invisible to the naked eye, it is truly hard to determine who has been infected. And for some reason, some individuals could not just understand what the community quarantine is all about. I am not a fanatic of any political party or politician. But when I think that something that they want to impose for the country is beneficial, I am all for that. It is funny how others see community quarantine as a form of Martial Law because by...

How Are You Juan?

It’s just the second month of 2020 and yet we have already been bombarded with so many problems. Apart from the Swine Flu that affected so many hog raisers in the last part of last year, a series of uncertain events followed. The recent eruption of Taal Volcano was truly a huge surprise for everyone because it has remained calm for the last 60 years. Although we know that there is no exact time when the eruption will happen again, we will never be calm in such a situation. No matter how much we think we are prepared for such calamities, still, each of us is always left worried about how to start our lives all over again. Taal Volcano Eruption My heart goes to all those who have been displaced because of the eruption. And indeed, seeing how the young children and the elderly have to deal with this is just devasting. It was also painful seeing all the animals that were left on the volcano island. And I know that their owns wouldn’t want to leave them because of the...

Embracing Positivity In The World of Discontentment

Image
In this world where there is an ambiguous level of satisfaction and perfection, it has come to a point where some individuals no longer know how to live their lives normally and peacefully. It is like they always need someone else’s opinion regarding how they look. Just take for example how young teenage girls would start planning their major nose job or breast enhancement. They would rather look like a life-size barbie than come out just the way they are. Seeing beauty has become superficial. Both male and female have developed some form of vanity that looking at how they are now is like looking at fashion magazines. While we may see it as very neat and pleasing to the eyes, none of them may no longer be themselves as they try to portray a role to make people believe who they are. Perfection, in a sense, has been the ultimate goal – perfect hair, perfect skin, perfect body….. The need to become a model-like figure continuously escalates as the young generation are...

Do You Know Why You Have Become An Insomniac?

Gadget insomnia......the culprit. But, whose fault is it? Our lives have never been the same again. Especially those who live in the city where life moves so fast that sometimes, one can feel not being able to catch up. A very busy day starting with the heavy traffic going to the office, to hearing your boss blubber all day until the time you get off from work only to be caught in another traffic. But despite all these, some people still find time to take extra hours keeping themselves busy and fail to have a good sleep. The cause of all the tossing and turning may be sitting on your lap. In a recent study from Bringham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, researchers found that dim light, such as the light emitted from a laptop, iPad, e-reader or smartphone, could suppress your body’s production of the sleep hormone melatonin. The net effect: You feel more wired than tired. Low-level light can stimulate special non-visual photoreceptor cells in the retina, ultimately making you mo...

Depression Cover Up

via GIPHY We face different challenges in our lives every day. We may overcome some of them quite easily. Some may not be even big enough to really matter. But what happens when we encounter one huge problem and we cannot seem to find ways to cope up? When we refrain ourselves from opening up what is in our thoughts, we end up suffering not just causing sleeplessness nights but eventually, the psychological struggle may need some medical intervention. Not all people may have the same tolerance to pain or disappointment. And so we hear from the news sometimes that there are people who just kill themselves because of too much pressure in their lives that they could not handle. It is natural to take some time off to look through things and assess whatever it is that has been bothering you. But learn to snap off from that depressive state. When one starts to seclude from everyone else, this should cause alarm. Being alone and not having someone to talk to, can be a poiso...

It can be caused by genetics as you would see a family of obese people, some would have acquired it due to the kind of everyday living they have.  Who are more prone to being unhealthy? Those who abhor to do exercise and those who turn to food when they are into some personal issues in life are the most likely people who could be affected with these eating disorders. You are aware that there are various eating disorders that can affect an individual. They can either have Anorexia or Bulimia. With the thinking that even a spoonful of food could actually gain them a pound or two. While +Bulimia is a eating disorder wherein the person would feel the need to eat and then afterwards force himself/herself to throw up by placing a finger i...
