Meeting of Hearts and Minds

What was the first thing that crossed your mind when you read the title? I am sure most of you thought that it is about a relationship between a man and a woman involved in a serious relationship. But then again, it is safe to say that a man and a woman can remain as just friends. Any objections so far?

There might be a few who would not agree that when a man and a woman gets close to each other, plain friendship is impossible. Thus, some would think that their relationship is just like the movie, "Friends with Benefits'. But not all the time that this can be true because there are people of opposite sex who just have this sisterly/brotherly love.

Ina different scenario, those men and women who started out as great friends may turn into lovers and may have a better marriage because of a good foundation of their friendship. Some eyebrows raising? Still, this depends on the kind of people they are and the kind of situation they are in.

When you meet someone that interests you, what do you do to know that person better? Do you take a step or do you just let things happen and hope that your paths cross again in the future?  Some gets attracted to a bubbly personality or to one who has great fashion sense. But when you want to feed your mind with things that you think will help you as a better person, what do you look for?

Some good friends just meet by acciden, either through a common friend or have shared the same interest. And to feed each others' minds is one thing that I do think can help strengthen a friendship. A friendship is not just about being able to go out for a coffee or go shopping or gossiping. Friendship goes beyond all the drama. A real friend will NEVER say hurtul things at your back. Oh please! When one gets older, you yearn for more than the hi's and hello's. If our body needs food in order to live, our mind seeks for sustenance as well.

How much of yourself can you give to a friend when both of you have their own families? How can you make the friendship flourish despite the odds of being thought of otherwise? It may be hard. But probably, people just need to realize that whena friend needs a shoulder to cry on, his/her friend will be there no matter what.

A Glimpse of Hope

The year is almost over and for some, it may mean awaiting a new beginning. But for some, it would mean an extension of difficulties and agony that they have from the past years. We could not instantly convince people to change their minds. But for us who believes that there is still life beyond our struggles, how do we help? When we know people who seem to be slowly losing faith in their capabilities to fight hard, what they need is someone who can listen to what is in their heart and mind. There is no room for judgment. All that there should be is a listening ear and an understanding heart. Depression can lead one to more serious health issues. And we can see how this has affected so many people- from their everyday jobs to family relationships. Learning to unload the heavy burden to a trusted person will surely help to ease the pain. It's another year of starting anew. But what often happens is that we tend to leave our list/goals for the new year on that piece of paper and forget about it. When you look back at the past year, what do you feel? Do you feel that you have accomplished anything? Do you feel that you lacked the necessary time to be able to make a difference? Wouldn't you want to continue an unfinished project? You don't need to compete with everyone else. You don't have to be an object of envy of others. Value yourself more than what money could buy. Believe that you can do something. Believe that you are capable of making change. Aspire to always become a better version of yourself. When you set your goals, make sure that it is something that will affect you and the people around you in a positive way. Never be disheartened when people start to criticize.
