A Day In A Quarantined Life

Image
The enhanced community quarantine imposed by the government is supposed to end by the 12 th of this month. Yet, the number of COVID19 cases continue to escalate. And so, extending it for another two weeks has its advantage and disadvantage. Unfortunately, since the Philippines is not a country like Singapore, most of us see it as a loss on our end because of failing to earn for the family. However, on the bright side, being at home may just be the best way to flatten the curve. It is sad, however, that while information about the benefits of staying at home and keeping a distance from others while in public is a sure way of preventing further spread of the disease, still a lot of people see it from a different light. Instead of reaching out to others and provide help in any form, they continue babbling nonsense online which really doesn’t do any good. On my end, all I want is for this nightmare to end so we can all get back to our normal lives. Indeed, it has taken...

The Unwelcomed Visitor

By the start of 2020, the Philippines have been plagued with various issues. From the eruption of the Taal Volcano, the never-ending talk about the franchise renewal of ABS CBN, and the worst, the COVID 19 threat which has affected thousands of lives . Every end of the year, we have always prayed for a better new year ahead. And while we continue to seek for the best things to come, the things that happen around us is not in our hands. The effect of COVID 19 worldwide has implications that have created a hole in the economy. Having an enemy invisible to the naked eye, it is truly hard to determine who has been infected. And for some reason, some individuals could not just understand what the community quarantine is all about. I am not a fanatic of any political party or politician. But when I think that something that they want to impose for the country is beneficial, I am all for that. It is funny how others see community quarantine as a form of Martial Law because by...

How Are You Juan?

It’s just the second month of 2020 and yet we have already been bombarded with so many problems. Apart from the Swine Flu that affected so many hog raisers in the last part of last year, a series of uncertain events followed. The recent eruption of Taal Volcano was truly a huge surprise for everyone because it has remained calm for the last 60 years. Although we know that there is no exact time when the eruption will happen again, we will never be calm in such a situation. No matter how much we think we are prepared for such calamities, still, each of us is always left worried about how to start our lives all over again. Taal Volcano Eruption My heart goes to all those who have been displaced because of the eruption. And indeed, seeing how the young children and the elderly have to deal with this is just devasting. It was also painful seeing all the animals that were left on the volcano island. And I know that their owns wouldn’t want to leave them because of the...

When Gratitude Becomes Your Saving Grace

The year is almost at its end, and yet we still see people who have made their New Year’s resolutions remain to be part of their list that never got anywhere. There are so many people who always wish to make something different in their lives when the New Year comes. They all seem to have all the hope that they and start changing their lives, to improve their lives. However, it is so sad that the list just remains a dream and never have these people made any efforts in trying to make them happen. Now, we just have about two weeks before we start another new year, have you contemplated about how 2019 was to you? Were there any changes in your life that helped you in a positive way? Or were there times that life challenged you that you almost gave up? We all experience different things and we also treat them differently. Some people may see a problem as a burden while others thank for it since it become a life’s lesson to them that allowed them to renew themselves and becom...

Philippine English…. As We Know It

Image
The homework of my son has tickled my mind and so, I decided to write something about it. But, at the same time, a short conversation with a friend who was telling me about a dilemma that he is experiencing with work. This is not to offend anyone, but, I guess, this should be a realization, especially those who are in the corporate world. We know that the English language is internationally recognized. And that is why we have 12 years of learning (because of the K to 12 educational system now) the language. From the basics during grade school until high school and advanced English skills in College. So, why do we need to learn the language when we are also taught to be patriotic? It is not turning away from your country if you are learning the  English language because knowing how to read, write, and speak the English language allows you to explore the world right in your hands. Imagine what a waste it can be if we don’t know how to understand English, then the P...
